Teacher suspended over 'relationship' with boy, 17, is shot dead in driveway

On May 14, 2018, in an otherwise a quiet lane in Beaver County, one of the DelTondo's neighbors counted six gunshots being fired outside the family's home.

Rachael DelTondo, a suspended Pennsylvania teacher, was gunned down and killed in her family's driveway late Sunday night on Mother's Day. "Ms. DelTondo was employed by PA Cyber but on a paid suspension".

"We understand that it is our legal and ethical responsibility to protect all children, which is why we have taken the actions that we have".

The incident wasn't reported to the school, but became public when the police report and other documents marked "for official use only" were leaked to the school and media outlets, the Pittsburgh Gazette reported. The incident allegedly occurred in February 2016, and DelTondo was found with the student in a parked auto at 2:00 a.m. near Aliquippa hospital.

Her partner called off the engagement just months later. Beaver County District Attorney Dave Lozier said it's unclear whether the 2016 incident is connected to her murder, but the investigation is ongoing.

The report said DelTondo "didn't want her fiance to know" she was with the boy, claiming he was a friend.

Suspicion surrounds the death of the young teacher as she was recently the victim of leaked confidential information from the Aliquippa Police Department involving her and a 17-year-old.

Rachael DelTondo, 32, was shot after telling family that she was coming home from getting ice cream with a friend, WPXI reported.

Though DelTondo was never charged in the incident, she was suspended in November 2017 after Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School Chief Executive Officer Brian Hayden contacted ChildLine, which "is part of a mandated statewide child protective services program created to accept child abuse referrals and general child well-being concerns, and transmit the information quickly to the appropriate investigating agency", according to the organization's website.

No charges were filed, but police noted in the report that "the windows were steamed over and the engine was not running".

She begged officers not to tell her fiancé "because he would get mad".

Police haven't released the name or description of the suspect, who is still at large.

Rachael Deltondo, 35, was suspended last November from the Pennsylvania Cyber Charter School over the alleged affair with a 17-year-old.

Authorities are reviewing surveillance video and DelTondo's cellphone for clues.

Aliquippa Mayor Dwan Walker is urging Aliquippa residents to contact police if they have information about DelTondo's death.

Lozier told Newsweek that several agencies, including investigators with his office, Aliquippa Police and Pennsylvania State Police, are investigating. However, investigators have not revealed information about the case at this time.
