Ron Howard: 'A Willow follow-up could be in the pipeline'

"Solo: A Star Wars Story" will surely make off with plenty of that loot, even if the movie requires considerable time to take flight, recovering from a messy, flat opening half before rallying and picking up speed down the stretch.

There was a considerable backlash in the Star Wars community about the decision to cast Alden Ehrenreich.

Initial reactions online after the premiere were positive, praising Ehrenreich and Glover and the film's space heist action sequences. "The world we live in now, everything is so niche", he continues.

"Solo" is not an bad movie, it just has a few very bad parts that feel uninspired. We just didn't speak about those pesky odds.

Directed by Ron Howard, Solo: A Star Wars Story stars Hail, Caesar's Alden Ehrenreich as Han, with Atlanta's Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and The Force Awakens' Joonas Suotamo as Chewbacca.

Anjie J.Han said, "Alden Ehrenreich is the real deal, Thandie Newton is who I want to be when I grow up, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge's L3... well we'll talk about that later".

Solo: A Star Wars Story will hit theaters on May 25. According to Johnson, her character "has a few of the funniest moments I've ever seen in a Star Wars movie". "It was a little bit like the Beatles documentary that I took on", said Howard, who won directing and producing Oscars for A Beautiful Mind (2002).

I had my own reservations when it came to Ehrenreich. It's a narrative that is consistently being lurched unnaturally from point to point in order to cover every single facet of Han Solo, most of which is already implicit or unnecessary. Watch the Solo behind the scenes video below. That would be trickier to pull off in Solo since we're dealing with a story that exists, at least mostly, outside of the general "Imperial vs".

Dryden Vos is no doubt evil, but Bettany plays him with such likability and eloquence that I thought he stood out as more than just a generic villain.

I was sure that this was the next red flag that Star Wars was going downhill for good.
