Gernot Rohr's 30-man provisional list for the Russian Federation 2018 World Cup, which was released by the German on Monday, has generated several reactions from Nigerians.
Victor Moses, Alex Iwobi and Ahmed Musa were in Nigeria's provisional World Cup squad on Monday, as was the uncapped Simeon Nwankwo, a 1.98-meter (6-foot-6) striker with Italian club Crotone.
Lokosa has been in terrific form in the Nigeria Professional Football League scoring 18 goals in 20 matches - including a brace against Katsina United on Sunday.
Most of the players that ensured Nigeria qualified for the World Cup were included in the squad.
The list, which consists of 4 goalkeepers, 10 defenders, 8 midfielders and 8 attackers, also includes Enyimba FC goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Deportivo La Coruna's shot stopper Francis Uzoho. The Nigerian team will play Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in Port Harcourt on May 25, after which the final 23-man squad will be announced.
Nigeria begin their 2018 Fifa World Cup campaign against Croatia on June 16 at the Kaliningrad Stadium before facing Iceland (June 22) and Argentina (June 26) in Volgograd and Saint Petersburg respectively.
