There have been reports claiming that United manager Jose Mourinho has promised a chance to play his preferred central forward role next season, instead of being placed out wide, but other narratives indicate a potential move to Chelsea.
But with Mourinho in the driving seat, Martial's Red Devils career looks over. And after a dream debut with Manchester United, coming off the bench scoring against fierce rivals Liverpool, it has not quite gone as it planned for the next "Thierry Henry".
The 22-year-old Frenchman has discovered begins exhausting to come back by because the January arrival of Alexis Sanchez and, in line with Italian newspaper Tuttosport, via Daily Express, Mourinho is prepared to see Martial head for pastures new in Serie A. The Portuguese boss has preferred to use Juan Mata, Marcus Rashford, and Jesse Lingard ahead of the French star leaving Martial out in the cold. Nevertheless, Martial has not impressed in the minimal starts offered and he was the subject of criticism from Mourinho for a sub-par performance in the Brighton defeat. Mourinho notably took the 20-year-old off against Derby County in the FA Cup because he felt like he wouldn't score, and you can not help but feel as if he'll opt for something different at the Olympic Stadium.
Mourinho signed Willian for Chelsea during his second spell at Stamford Bridge and the Brazilian was a Premier League victor within a year in England. North London giants Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are also keeping tabs on Martial.
