A telecom tariff war seems to have started afresh with state-owned telecom operator BSNL trying to match Reliance Jio's tariffs with a Rs349 pre-paid plan that comes with a validity of 54 days and offers unlimited voice calls.

With the new plan, customers will now get an additional 500MB of data per day.

The submission by Vodafone was made before Justice Rajiv Shakdher during the hearing of the company's plea challenging telecom regulator TRAI's recommendation to the Centre to impose Rs 1,050 crore penalty on it for not giving interconnectivity to Jio.

In total, Vodafone is offering 84GB in 28 days.

Reliance Jio's prepaid plan is also bundled with free voice-calls, on local, roaming and STD in India along with the 100 SMS free per day.

Recently, BSNL also unveiled two other plans priced at Rs. 99 and Rs. 319 with unlimited voice calls and unlimited roaming. The plan also offers 100 free SMS per day. this means that users will get total 2800 SMS.

Recently, Vodafone launched a prepaid plan of Rs 569 which also offers 3GB data for a validity of 84 days. Both the packs have a validity period of 84 days, however, there is a limit on voice calls.

The Rs 349 plan for prepaid customers would earlier offer benefits of 2.5 GB of 3G/4G data. We would like to mention, BSNL now offers 4G service in limited circles only.

Moving to the data part, the plan 349 of Vodafone is offering 3GB Data per day. The latest in this is the Vodafone Rs. 349 recharge, which offers 3GB data per day and competes with the Jio Rs. 299 pack. The plan is valid for 28 days. Incumbents such as Airtel and Vodafone, however, have not given in to the low-priced recharges offered by Jio, and is fighting the latest entrant tooth and nail. In other circles, it only gives 3G service.

These offers take on RJio's Rs 448 plan where the company is offering similar benefits. The revised Rs. 349 plan from Vodafone also includes unlimited local, STD and roaming calls.

Talking about Vodafone's 2GB per day validity plan, the service provider also rolled out Rs 511 pack with a validity period of 84 days.
